Formed in 1989 under the name Crush Evil. Antestor means "testify" or "call to witness" in Latin.
The band consider their genre of music to be "Atmospheric Sorrow Metal".
During the 1990s they received serious death threats from Euronymous, Varg Vikernes and Faust.

"Despair", together with the previous demo, was re-released on the album "The Defeat of Satan" in 2003 through Momentum Scandinavia.

Biografía:
"Antestor se formó en 1990 por Lars Stokstad, Molnes Kjetil y Jørgensen Erling, bajo el nombre de Crush Evil. Más tarde, Paul W se ha unido a la batería. En ese momento el sonido de la banda era una mezcla entre el death metal, doom metal y Thrash Metal.
En 1991, graba el primer demo La derrota de Satanás. La existencia de una banda de death metal cristiano causado mucha controversia. La banda ha recibido varias amenazas de muerte por bandas que defienden la filosofía de satanista.
En el Fausto de 90 Bard (emperador) pidió a Euronymous (Mayhem) en caso de que no creía que la existencia de una banda de death metal cristiano era un insulto. Euronymous respondió que no tenía un plan para matar a miembros de Antestor, sin embargo la banda ha sobrevivido a estas amenazas. Irónicamente, Jan Axel Von Blomberg, miembro de la banda Mayhem, se unió más tarde por Antestor como baterista.
En 1993, Vegard Undal unido a la banda como bajista y Sander Svein tomó la batería.

En el CD 98 promocial fue relanzado bajo el nombre de El regreso de la muerte Negro. Después del lanzamiento de este álbum, la banda entró en conflicto con la etiqueta. Esto no se les pagó o en contacto con ellos.
Según algunos rumores, el editor ha dejado el partido cuando se enteró de sus creencias cristianas.
En el año 2000, a pesar del contrato con Cacophonous seguir siendo válido, Antestor firmado con Endtime Productions. Kjetil Molnes dejó la banda poco después.
El hecho de que la banda cristiana Vaakevandring ser tomados por separado, llevó a algunos de sus miembros a unirse a Antestor: ¿cómo Ronny Hansen y Morten Sigmund Magerøy. Ann-Mari Edvardsen ocuparon las voces femeninas.

En 2005 presenta su segundo álbum, The Forsaken. Jan Axel Von Blomberg fue también el baterista de la grabación de este álbum, que fue muy bien recibido por los críticos.
Algunos miembros siguen jugando en la Vaakevandring Antestor banda.
El 31 de marzo 2007 la banda anunció el fin de sus actividades.

Admiro mucho a esta banda, es muy buena
Muchos se asustaran por sus maquillajes, pero las letras de esta banda son mucho mas cristianas que la de muchas otras bandas cristianas.
De hecho ya no se maquillan.. Esta banda es simplemente espectacular!!
