Not to be confused with Famine from Erie, Pennsylvania, or Famine from Jersey City, New Jersey.
The group disbanded on April 13, 2011, two days after drummer Mark Garza announced his departure from the group. Brad Fincher took Garza's place for the band's farewell show on August 12, 2011.
The band has stated that while some of their members are Christians and they are signed to a Christian label, they do not consider themselves a Christian band.

From Ashes es una banda Dark Metal de Finlandia. Su primer disco llamado As The Leaves Fall oficial fue lanzado el 2007.
Una de las caracteristicas de la banda son sus líricas, un mensaje religioso de superación y creencia.
La banda se formó en el 2001, pero no habían grabado nada hasta el 2003 con su primer Demo con las canciones ‘’Eagle’’ y ‘’In The Valley of Megiddo’‘
Tiempo después, en el mismo año, grabaron su segundo Demo (Sin nombre). Con las canciones ‘’Arctit Flower’‘, ‘’Dream of eternity’’ y ‘’For the moment’‘.
En el siguiente año, 2004, grabaron un tercer Demo (Sin nombre). Las canciones que contiene este son ‘’I am a Warrior’’ y ‘’Talvi’‘.
Luego de unos meses, en el mismo año, grabaron un Demo con canciones que se expondrían en el álbum definitivo. Estas fueron: ‘’Blackened’‘, ‘’Temporary’’ y ‘’Voiton Paiva’‘. Tambien una canción única llamada ‘’A Way’‘.
Para el 2007, la banda lanza su primer disco ‘’As the leaves fall’‘. Como su fama no es tan grande, sólo fue escuchado por los alrededores escandinavos.
