The band was formed under the name Sphinx. They started playing only cover songs.
In 2002 Omar Ebdah left the band due to a simple misunderstanding.
After that the band had changed its name to Morgoth and started composing some original material.
In a period of about 9 months, the band had 5 complete songs. During the composing period, Basil Bursheh (Phex's cousin) joined the band on keyboards.
The band had to change its name again because there was another band called Morgoth from Germany, so the name changed to Augury (which is the ability to predict good or evil).
Augury had entered a hiatus in 2006 as most of its members moved to different countries around the world, and although some reviving attempts were made in 2008, it was never to be, due to distance as well as some musical differences between members the band split-up.
